I had a fun day on Sunday taking some new photos for Cee’s photo challenges. Two of these pictures were taken at the Hobart Botanical Gardens. They were holding a spring festival and amongst the entertainment was an old fashioned Punch and Judy Show.
I also enjoyed photographing the spring flowers as I don’t often get a chance to do flower close-ups. I’ll just have to plant lots of flowers in our new garden.
The third photo is an older one but was taken just down the road from the Botanical Gardens. It is a panel from the gate of the old Beaumaris Zoo which has been gone for many years. Only the gate remains. I have always found the faces of the animals on the panels very melancholy and wonder if the artist designed them that way on purpose. I chose the Thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger) as my subject because the last known one was a resident at the zoo until it died. I’ve seen film of the poor thing in its cage and it makes me cry every time I watch it.
